In 2010, as part of the post-diplome programme at The Beaux-Arts de Paris, Gruber was teaching 10-year-olds conceptual art and the history of modern sculpture. The primary school of Anatole France, Saint Ouen, hosted him for one year—half pupil, half teacher—hence an artist-in-residence. At the end of the year, Gruber invited three colleagues to discuss with his students their impressions about their classes: the poet and writer Pierre Bregounioux talked with them about the notion of the oxymoron; the psychoanalyst Sara Stern listened to their interpretations of an art installation made by Gruber, for which they selected different titles; and the artist Ulla von Brandenburg interviewed them about their own works. The result of these encounters is the documentary film, C’est Comme un Code à Décoder.
